The Slovak artist presents the exhibition 'Art in Resin', which invites the viewers to immerse themselves in the magic and calm of nature

Calm, harmony, beauty... This is what the exhibition currently on display at the Cristóbal Ruiz Cultural and Sports Centre in La Cala de Mijas evokes. The creator of the pieces, Slovak Ivica Jurikova, works with acrylic, oil and glass, but above all with resin, a material she is passionate about for creating art.

"I used to work with glass in my country, but it shines a lot and resin seemed somewhat similar. I discovered this material and was fascinated by it, which is why it has almost become an obsession for me", said the artist at the opening on Friday 9th, surrounded by friends and family who wanted to support her.

This is the first time that Ivica Jurikova has exhibited in this gallery, but she has already shown her work in other locations within the municipality, in Malaga city and also in her native Slovakia. The artist has participated in numerous exhibitions, both solo and group shows, and now presents this beautiful exhibition 'Art in Resin' for the enjoyment of all who wish to visit. "I started working with resin two years ago and my greatest inspiration is nature and the sea, I also love precious stones and geodes", she added.

Passion for nature

Every piece Jurikova creates is imbued with love, passion and a desire to inspire joy. For this abstract artist, art is not just a hobby but a passion for life.

"I create art to bring beauty, light and a sense of wonder to the world. My resin paintings, enriched with crystals, are more than just visual pieces: they invite you to feel, dream and reconnect with the magic around us", adds the artist.

Art as therapy

"I believe that art should uplift the soul, awaken joy and create spaces full of harmony and warmth. Each piece reflects love, the brilliance of nature and the whispers of intuition. My work is a reminder that beauty is everywhere, waiting to be seen, felt and appreciated. Together, let's celebrate the beauty of art and its remarkable healing power", says the artist.

Her career

As Jurikova explains on her website (ivicaart.com), her artistic career began in the Czech Republic, where she honed her skills in molten glass, immersing herself in the country's rich glassmaking tradition. Under the guidance of several masters, she discovered the charm of moulding molten glass into impressive works. "In the United States, I had the privilege of collaborating with renowned glassblowers from the Pilchuck Glass School", she says. Their mentorship refined her craft and led to sales of her glass artworks in prestigious locations such as the Trump Hotel and the Wynn in Las Vegas.

Life then took Jurikova to Luxembourg, where she explored ceramics. Working with clay opened a world of possibilities, allowing her to explore the texture, form, and the tactile essence of art. She currently resides in Andalusia, where she aims to establish the largest art and glass centre in the region, a dynamic space where artists and enthusiasts can create, collaborate, inspire, and enjoy art.

Grateful for the opportunity to share her vision, Jurikova seeks to "bring a touch of magic to your life and your home through my abstract artworks. The exhibition 'Art in Resin' can be visited until the 9th of February at the Cultural and Sports Centre in La Cala de Mijas.
