Last Saturday, the Mijas Local Police seized 75 kilograms of hashish and arrested two individuals following a violent incident in the vicinity of the El Faro residential area, during which shots were fired and another person was injured by a gunfire and subsequently taken to hospital.
Up to five patrol units were deployed to the area after officers were alerted to an overturned vehicle, a circumstance that raised concerns that a serious incident may have occurred. From that moment, the police confirmed that a violent incident had taken place, in which threats were allegedly made with a firearm and a getaway was attempted, resulting in a scene involving up to four vehicles. As a result of the events, one person was injured by a firearm, received medical attention from emergency services and was taken to hospital.
During the operation, the police arrested two people for alleged crimes of robbery with violence, attempted homicide and offences against public health. They also seized 75 kilos of hashish and a handgun. The Civil Guard took charge of the proceedings, as well as the damaged vehicles and the seized weapon.
Swift response by officers
The councillor for Public Safety at the Mijas Town Hall, Juan Carlos Cuevas Dawson (Vox), praised the work carried out by the officers, highlighting that it was "an immediate and decisive response that made it possible to bring a very dangerous situation under control, secure the area and prevent even more serious consequences".
According to Cuevas Dawson, "this intervention highlights the importance of having a well-trained Local Police force, with a permanent presence on the streets and fully coordinated with other security forces". The councillor also reiterated the Mijas Town Hall's commitment "to continuing to strengthen the human and material resources allocated to citizen safety".
