Our town is ready to enjoy the Christmas school holidays outdoors in its most emblematic venue. The Mijas Grand Park will remain open continuously from Saturday 20th of December until the 6th of January. The opening hours for the public will be from 9 to 19 hours.
Following the openings during the Immaculate Conception long weekend and over recent weekends, the park will now open in its entirety, with all its spaces and access points in service. This means that both entrances will be open: the main entrance, in the La Morena area near the La Alberquilla junction; and the secondary entrance, on Cerro del Águila road. To make access easier for visitors, each entrance has an adjoining car park, with a total of 2,000 parking spaces.
The councillor for Parks and Gardens, Daniel Gómez Teruel (PP), announced that visitors will be able to explore all areas of the park, as the previous partial openings served to test access, capacity and safety. Therefore, during this Christmas period, residents will find all playgrounds, sports areas and the dog area open. “I appeal to the civic spirit of our residents; at recent events, this spirit has been very evident. It is clear that people are aware of the need to respect the cleanliness of the park”, said the councillor.
To ensure the smooth running of the site, the following measures have been put in place. Firstly, with regard to motorised vehicles, motorcycles and electric scooters are strictly prohibited and must be parked outside the facility.
Surveillance will be provided by a private security service working in coordination with the Local Police to protect users.
Maintenance services have been reinforced with staff from Parks and Gardens and Basic Income to ensure that the facilities and toilets are kept in perfect condition. With its 270,000 square metres, the Mijas Grand Park is the largest urban facility of its kind in Andalusia.
