The Christmas programme put together by the Mijas Town Hall invites us to the Plaza Virgen de la Peña on Saturday, 20th of December, to enjoy not only the light show but also the music of the Mijas Municipal Band, which is celebrating its 6th Christmas Concert. The event will start at 19 hours, so after watching the light show, take a seat under the marquee that the Town Hall will set up there and enjoy the recital, which, this year, they assure us, will sound even better as they are premiering some new instruments.

On this occasion, the repertoire includes everything from classic Christmas carols to soundtracks from iconic films such as 'Harry Potter' and 'The Polar Express'. Under the direction of Francisco Jesús Valcárcel and the assistant conductor Salvador Fernández, the band is eagerly awaiting this day. This was stated by Varcárcel, who explained that "we have prepared a repertoire with pieces such as 'Con te partirò', the waltz from the Harry Potter film, the main theme from the soundtrack of 'Polar Express' and a fairly extensive selection of Christmas carols". And full of surprises because, as the conductor pointed out, "when we get to the carols, there will be some big surprises that we will share with everyone in the audience, so we invite everyone to come and enjoy the concert with us on Saturday".

The band hopes that this year's Christmas concert will sound even better "with the instruments purchased by the Town Hall, thanks to the great support they always give us. We hope that the sound and everything else will keep getting better and better, which is what matters", added Valcárcel.

The concert will take place on Saturday, 20th of December, in the Virgen de la Peña Square in Mijas Pueblo, starting at 19 hours. Admission is free, emphasised the councillor for Music Bands, Silvia Marín (PP), who said that "you are all invited to see this concert offered by the Mijas Music Band, which I am sure will delight us all, because they always play wonderful music, but at this time of year, they will surprise us with those beautiful Christmas carols to which they usually add their own melodies with their arrangements and contributions".
