The municipal corporation unanimously decides to appoint a liquidator for the company Recursos Turísticos de Mijas

The Mijas Town Hall, meeting in a general assembly, composed of the 25 councillors who make up the corporation, unanimously agreed to dissolve the company Recursos Turísticos de Mijas, S.A., which managed the Costa del Sol Racecourse. The only assets retained by this company are some furniture and objects of little value. In addition, a liquidator has been appointed

After a long bankruptcy process, this company, which the Mijas Town Hall set up in the 1990s to manage the horse racing facility, is now completely separated from the racecourse. Thus, the original plot of land is once again entirely municipal property.

For its part, as Unicaja Banco has donated its shares in the company Recursos Turísticos de Mijas, S. A. to the Town Hall, this company is now 100% municipal and will henceforth be administered by the municipal Plenary, that is, by the 25 councillors who make up the corporation.

Normal operation

The 380,000-square-metre site, known as the Mijas Racecourse, which in addition to the horse racing tracks and stables has other facilities in operation such as equine therapy, the municipal gym and the athletics track, will continue to operate normally.

The Samuel Oliva show jumping school will also remain open, continuing to welcome both professional and amateur riders.

At the same time, the government team is studying several projects that will shape a new future for the racecourse, in which the world of horses will once again take centre stage and which will integrate sports and leisure activities.
