In addition, the establishment in La Cala will host regular meetings to create connections between local and international businesses

On Saturday 22nd, La Salacia restaurant in La Cala hosted the presentation of an international business networking platform that aims to connect local entrepreneurs with foreign businesspeople, especially from Estonia, a country with a growing community on the Costa del Sol. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange experiences, network and open up new opportunities.

This initiative plans to organise monthly meetings and seeks to strengthen the business fabric of Mijas, encouraging collaboration between businesses from different sectors and backgrounds. The organiser of this first meeting, Gertrud Lepik, highlighted the value of creating a strong working community on the Costa del Sol: “This platform is about bringing us together as businesspeople, supporting each other and connecting services. In Mijas, people of many nationalities live together and it is important to hold events where we can get to know each other”, she explained.

“All entrepreneurs are welcome because these meetings give rise to great collaborations”, she continued, also thanking the Town Hall for its support, “which has been invaluable for us because whenever we have turned to them, whether for administrative or other matters, they have helped us one hundred per cent”.

Estonia-Mijas collaboration

The event was attended by Janno Pajo, deputy head of the Estonian Embassy in Madrid, who stressed the importance of the Costa del Sol for the Estonian community: “It is a very important area for us. Although we do not have a consulate here in the south, these meetings strengthen our community. Our organisers are like ambassadors in this area and we are very proud of their work”, he said.

The councillor for Foreigners, Mario Bravo (PP), also attended the presentation of this platform. For the councillor, “this meeting aims to be a gateway not only to Estonia, but also to other countries”, he said. For Mijas, according to Bravo, “Estonia is a benchmark in digitalisation and electronic management. We have a lot to learn from them and they also have much to learn from us”.

Upcoming events

This meeting is not the end of the story: the business platform organised by La Salacia will continue to hold regular meetings to connect local entrepreneurs with international partners and promote economic development in the area.
