The Mijas Town Hall has completed the review and update of its Municipal Territorial Emergency Plan (PTEM), a document that incorporates the new provisions of Decree 69/2024 of the Junta de Andalucía, which establishes the declaration of a state of emergency of general interest in the region.
The mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP); the councillor responsible for the Fire Brigade, Francisco Jerez (Vox), and the head of the Local Police, Juan Manuel Rosas, were briefed on the drafting of the PTEM on Tuesday 28th during a meeting with the deputy chief of the Mijas Fire and Rescue Service, Francisco Manuel Mérida, and Corporal Miguel Ángel Gálvez.
The main novelty of this updated version lies in an improvement in the speed and coordination of response among all the bodies involved in emergency situations: the Fire Brigade, the Local Police and Civil Protection. The activation and deactivation of emergencies will also be more efficient under the new procedures established by the Municipal Territorial Emergency Plan.
Phases
The document also establishes three operational phases: zero, which corresponds to what was previously considered the pre-emergency stage; one, which can be managed using the municipality’s own resources; and two, which requires the intervention of other authorities and administrations.
Once the results of the PTEM update have been submitted to the mayoress of Mijas and the councillor responsible, the document is now awaiting approval by the municipal plenary session before coming into force.
