After successful editions in cities including New Orleans, New York, Toronto and Miami, the ‘Women Invest in Women’ tour arrived on the Costa del Sol for the first time, with Mijas as the chosen location. The event took place on Saturday 25th at the Play Restaurant, where sixty female entrepreneurs gathered, the venue’s full capacity.

“For us, it was also important to hold this kind of event here because we have a hub of very talented women with many businesses. We wanted to give them visibility and offer them a safe and inspiring space”, said one of the members of the organising committee, Yasmina Stitou Messaoudi-Moussi.

  • El encuentro tuvo lugar este sábado 25 en el Restaurante Play.

“I am very happy to host this women’s gathering”, said the co-founder of Play Restaurant, Ana María Ignat Berget, where the event was held. As an entrepreneur herself, she recognises how challenging it can be to develop a business.

Female empathy

‘Women Invest in Women’ is presented as a movement that connects women entrepreneurs, leaders and creatives from around the world. Its aim is to offer women training, information and networking opportunities. Participants attend workshops and sessions on topics such as “self-care and self-knowledge, which are very important when we talk about women in leadership positions”, said Stitou Messaoudi-Moussi.

  • El objetivo de sus encuentros es ofrecer a las mujeres formación, información y contactos.

Women from sectors as diverse as consulting, real estate, beauty and fashion came together in Mijas. “The percentage of capital invested in women-led businesses in Europe is 1.8 per cent”, she said. That is why, she added, “the only way to improve this figure is for more women to invest in women. Ultimately, we share a common empathy and understanding, we must support each other, create connections and build community, that’s incredibly important”, she concluded.

Each meeting of the ‘Women Invest in Women’ movement, they say, “creates unique opportunities to promote collaboration, growth and connection among women who are redefining the future of business, leadership and investmen”. The movement ended its season in Spain, in Mijas, and promises to return with new initiatives.
