Fran Cortés Chiquitete, the family of Camarón, and Antonio Manzanita are among the voices set to take the stage to celebrate his career

A heartfelt and spectacular tribute will honour José ‘El Gallo’ for his artistic career and upcoming retirement. His family and closest friends are organising an event at the Manuel España Theatre in Las Lagunas, with more than 50 participants, including singers, dancers, and musicians. The event will take place on the 6th of November at 20:00.

“Tributes should be paid during one’s lifetime”. This was José ‘El Gallo’'s reaction upon learning of an event in his honour recognising his entire career. “These things are better done while you are alive than after you die. Tributes are usually given once you’re no longer here. There are friends and acquaintances we couldn’t include in the poster and others who called afterwards wanting to join, they will also be on stage. I am very grateful to my children and family for organising all this”.

His family and closest friends wanted to create an event where everyone could come together to celebrate him, his art, and his career. More than 50 people will take to the stage in a grand show that will capture the essence of flamenco.

A stellar line-up

Over 20 singers and musicians, along with 12 dance and percussion performances, will accompany this great master of flamenco in a charity event in aid of the Mijas Red Cross, organised by his family. José ‘El Gallo’ will also close the evening’s programme.

According to Antonio Miguel Gallo, son of the honouree and organiser, “we will have top-class artists. They all wanted to be with my father, as they have worked with him at some point. You have to see the full line-up. At the top are the family of Camarón, his children, Chiquetete’s son, Antonio Manzanita, José Canela and his family, Chaparro father and son, and the musicians from Chambao…the line-up is endless”. He also highlighted the important work of the Red Cross: “They are wonderful people who help everyone, and we must support them as well. They are always there for those who need them most”.

Tickets

A donation of 15 euros will be requested for the event, 5 of which will go to the Mijas Red Cross. Reservations can be made by calling 692 552 414 or at the box office. Patricia Wilkenschildt, representative of the Mijas Red Cross, thanked “the whole family for thinking of us. This money is essential for us to continue all the projects we are running and to help those who come to the Red Cross for assistance".
