The Mijas Town Hall is stepping up coordination between the Fire Brigade, Local Police, and Civil Protection services for preventive surveillance in urban-forest areas, reminding residents that 112 is the only channel for reporting incidents. The councillor for the Mijas Fire Brigade, Francisco Jerez (Vox), has announced the activation of municipal reinforcement measures following the Junta de Andalucía's decision to extend the high forest fire risk season until the 1st of November.
"We have reinforced operational patrols and coordination with the Local Police, Civil Protection and 112 to respond quickly to any outbreak in our mountains and urban-forest areas", explained Jerez. The councillor reminded residents that barbecues, agricultural and forest burning are still prohibited during this period, even in designated recreational areas.

Maximum caution
"We ask residents and visitors to exercise maximum caution: no fires in the countryside, no work involving sparks, and no motorised traffic on forest tracks. If you see any smoke, call 112 immediately", he stressed.

Jerez added that the Town Hall has increased preventive surveillance at sensitive points across the municipality and that early warning protocols with the Andalusian Emergency Network remain in place. “Prevention is everyone’s responsibility. Responsible behaviour reduces risks and protects our environment and our homes", he concluded.
