The councillor for Tourism, Francisco Jerez (Vox), emphasised the importance of the initiative: "Mijas boasts artisans who preserve centuries-old crafts while also opening up new creative paths. This exhibition is a window into our identity and another attraction for those who visit us".
He also highlighted the sustainability of the proposal: "Handmade works, noble and local materials, and a circular economy: the craftsmanship of Mijas is culture, it is tourism, and it is also the future".

Amador Angulo comes from a family of goldsmiths and presents religious gold and silverwork, a testament to tradition, alongside an innovative line inspired by the world of video games. His technical hallmark is relief work, applied to sheets of brass, silver or copper. Together with his father, he promotes the Elegancia Barroca brand, developing handmade jewellery such as earrings, necklaces and combs. "I am innovating with the world of gaming and video games, stepping outside my comfort zone, as I have always been dedicated to religious goldsmithing".

For her part, Marina Florentina González works with local banana fibre, a natural resource she obtains as a by-product of cultivation. Her work combines traditional basketry techniques with contemporary design pieces, showcasing the strength, colour and versatility of this material. The process includes the extraction, cleaning, drying and subsequent braiding or weaving of the fibre, resulting in unique creations that have impressed the public with their originality. "I have tried to express slightly different traditional basketry techniques in pieces that are a little more contemporary and different so that all the benefits of the fibre can be seen, its colour, strength, length and, ultimately, its versatility", she said.
The councillor Francisco Jerez invited residents and visitors to enjoy this cultural event: "Those who come will discover unique pieces, meticulous techniques and a history that speaks of Mijas. It is a perfect opportunity to support our artisans".
