This charitable initiative has provided free holiday accommodation at Idiliq resorts to 50 families who are going through difficult times in their lives

‘Holidays that change lives’. With the satisfaction of a job well done, that of this initiative launched in Spain this year by the Idiliq Foundation, the organisation celebrated its 26th anniversary on Thursday 18th at the Safari restaurant of the Wyndham Grand Costa del Sol.

“The initiative consists of offering free holidays to families going through difficult times. Because it’s not just about going to the best hospital, having the best doctor or the best medicines, rest also matters and nothing compares to a good holiday to recharge your batteries and return to your daily life with the strength to face complicated situations”, explained the president of the Idiliq Foundation, Juan Miguel Marcos, who pointed out that, since March, 50 families have benefited from this project, a figure that will double next year.

Associations from across the province, authorities, media outlets, sponsors, collaborators, company representatives, as well as ambassadors and volunteers of the Idiliq Foundation attended the event. "I have been fortunate to spend a week's holiday here at these facilities; it was just what I needed, as I had had a very difficult year with the illness", said Toñi Martín, who received the offer from the AECC in Torremolinos.

“I think it’s a good practice that our hotel entities could take note of so that corporate social responsibility continues to spread, creating a wave of solidarity, and so that it’s not only associations and public administrations that make the effort to care for and support our society”, said the mayoress of Mijas Ana Mata (PP).

The gala was a special occasion to recognise the continued support of all those present and reaffirm the foundation’s social commitment. “Today we are here not only to support you but also to continue offering you the full backing of the government team. This commitment goes far beyond a single term of office; it is a lifelong commitment between the municipality and the Idiliq Foundation, which is Wyndham’s way of reaching society and giving back a small part of what society has contributed to them”, said the Popular Party councillor Mario Bravo.

For his part the councillor for Por Mi Pueblo, Juan Carlos Maldonado, said he had “nothing but words of gratitude for Idiliq because they support us in many activities in the social, cultural and employment spheres… and it is truly appreciated that this public-private partnership is bearing such fruit”.

Meanwhile, PSOE councillor Josele González stressed that “it is a real source of pride to have a foundation like Idiliq, which works with social groups that reach where other administrations do not, supporting patients with different chronic illnesses, many of whom often lack resources”.
