The legendary actor Robert Redford passed away on Tuesday, September 16th, at the age of 89 at his home in Utah. Beyond his brilliant film career, Mijas holds a special connection with the actor, as in 1966 he chose this town as a refuge during a decisive moment in his life.
Accompanied by his family, Redford stayed for seven months on a property in the mountains, seeking to escape the pressure of Hollywood and reflect on his future.

In Mijas, he even considered giving up acting to dedicate himself to painting, one of his great passions.
Decades later, the actor himself fondly recalled that period, during which he enjoyed the town’s tranquillity and his contact with local life. His stay left a mark on some residents, who still remember the stay of a young heartthrob who, for a time, made Mijas his home. Rest in peace.
