Among the most significant interventions, 47 reports were issued for urinating in public, 31 for public drinking, and 30 for traffic violations

Now that the last of our fairs, the one in Mijas, has come to an end, the Local Police Department of the Mijas Town Hall has taken stock of the extensive measures organised to safeguard the safety of residents and visitors during these days of festivites. The councillor for the department, Juan Carlos Cuevas Dawson (Vox), said that “the fair has been enjoyed without any serious incidents. We have had incidents involving alcohol, some warnings, we have also issued fines for anti-social behaviour, and there have even been some attempts at fighting. However, we have acted very quickly and it has been a peaceful fair.”

A safe fair which, according to Cuevas Dawson, has been possible thanks to the “excellent” coordination of the Local Police, Fire Department, Civil Guard, Civil Protection, and health services. "The Local Police have done a magnificent job. We also have to thank the Civil Guard for their work", said the councillor, adding that "the coordination between all the security forces has been excellent. Civil Protection has also done a great job". A great job, according to the councillor, which adds to all the work carried out by the Festivities and Traditions and Public Roads departments, among other areas, ”which have done a wonderful job", he added.

In general terms, the councillor announced that “we are very happy with the security at this year's Mijas Fair. There have been no serious incidents because the police presence has been stepped up: every year we try to improve in everything we can, especially in those so-called hot spots, which is where there are really more incidents related, above all, to young people and alcohol”. In this regard, Cuevas Dawson said that they had invested “a lot of personnel and many hours of overtime, and thanks to all that, the operation has worked wonderfully”.

Offences

The Local Police Department has announced that it will prepare a detailed report on the most significant incidents recorded during the fair, which include 47 citations for urinating in public, 31 for street drinking, 30 traffic complaints and 20 complaints for disturbing the peace. The department also reported that there were no arrests and that only one act of vandalism was recorded during the Mijas Fair
