Creative, colourful and full of fantasy and imagination, this is the exhibition showcasing the work of children who took part in the summer art workshops at the Mijas Arts Centre. The exhibition features around one hundred pieces of art in various forms and will be open to visitors until the 17th of September
"The workshops began in July and welcomed children of all ages. This exhibition includes ceramic work, paintings, new techniques, a bit of everything. Our aim is to encourage creativity from within... For children to express themselves from the inside out, that is what really matters", said the president of the centre, Pernille Knudtzon, at the closing ceremony of this summer's children's workshops, held on Friday 12th.

Diversity and imagination
The Mijas Arts Centre is a non-profit association founded in 1972 with the aim of promoting artistic and cultural activities in Mijas and the surrounding area. The centre is located in the Virgen de la Peña square in Mijas Pueblo, and as this exhibition shows, children play a major role.
"The foundation of this arts centre has over 53 years of experience and dedication to children. Two Americans started this space to give children the opportunity to learn art, ceramics, drawing, painting... and we are continuing with the same goal and even with greater energy, if possible", added Knudtzon, now president of the centre.
"This summer I have done lots of important thing and I have learned to use my creativity. I really love the arts centre, its been a really special gift to me and has suuported me thoughout my life journey", said Mike Daniel, one of the young students in the workshops, who proudly presented his work at the closing exhibition on September 12th

New course
Once the summer is over, the president announced that the new programme of activities at the Arts Centre will begin in October. "Classes will start next month and we will have all kinds of workshops, including drawing, ceramics, yoga, Spanish, Pilates..."
