Following the programme of activities organised by the Mijas Foreigners Department for the autumn months, which includes informative talks, coworking sessions and the solidarity tables, we would like to remind you of the meeting on Tuesday 16th: the presentation of the Toastmasters Costa del Soul Speakers Club.

This is one of five clubs in the province of Málaga and one of more than 250,000 spread across 150 countries worldwide. All of them, according to the association's secretary and treasurer, Soledad Riveros, "have been dedicated to the same mission for more than 100 years since the association was founded, which is nothing other than improving our communication and leadership skills. In general, we meet once a week or every two weeks, depending on the club, usually once a week to practise this in structured meetings with different chapters or sections in which there are impromptu speeches and prepared speeches so that members participate in all meetings with different roles, and in both Spanish and English".

Toastmasters Method

Toastmasters International Costa del Soul Speakers has mentors and an online educational programme. They are aimed especially at professionals or university students, but anyone who wants to join is welcome, they say. Their sessions are so successful that they are looking for a larger venue to hold them.

According to Riveros, "we want the people of Mijas to know what a Toastmasters meeting is, so we want everyone in Mijas to come and join us and experience the meeting in its entirety", an opportunity they are offering on Tuesday 16th of September at 19 hours, at the La Cala Branch Office.

The group encourages anyone who wants to gain self-confidence, learn to write and deliver speeches in public while managing their emotions, strengthen their leadership skills or develop networking skills to attend. They assure us that "everyone learns at their own pace" and their main motto is ‘We help you build confidence’.
