For the second consecutive year, Mijas will host one of the nineteen Walkathon for Water charity walks organised by the We Are Water Foundation, aimed at raising awareness about water scarcity and raising funds for projects that provide drinking water and sanitation solutions to communities affected by this problem.
This is the third edition of this initiative, which will be held on the 16th of September, in addition to walks taking place throughout 2025 in Spain, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Portugal and Austria. The event also seeks to raise awareness through symbolism: six kilometres is the average distance that millions of children in Africa, Asia and Latin America must walk each day to access drinking water. For every kilometre walked during these events, participants help to shorten the distance for those in need of water.
In Mijas, the walk will begin at 09:00 hours in the Torreón de La Cala square and will continue along the Coastal Path. During the walk, Los Amigos Beach Club, managed by Hilton Grand Vacations, will offer drinks, and a raffle will be held at the end.
To register, visit the website wearewater.org or register on the day at the event venue for 5 euros, will go directly to charitable projects.
