Summer is very active in Mijas, as shown by the activities of the Territorio Juventud programme, which has already attracted 825 people in its first month. This was highlighted by the councillor for Youth, Melisa Ceballos (PP), who praised the strong response to the initiative, which will also continue throughout August.
The meeting point for the activities is El Torreón de La Cala beach, where participants can try out a variety of free sports, including paddle surfing, big paddle surfing, kayaking and snorkelling. In the event of adverse weather conditions, alteranatives such as beach volleyball, beach football, petanque and beach paddle ball are offered.
The activities, which are open to children aged 8 and over, take place on Fridays and Saturdays from 17 to 20 hours. Instructors coordinate with the lifeguard station located in the same area to ensure maximum safety during the activities. In addition, safety equipment such as helmets and life jackets is provided, and participants receive basic instruction before taking part in any water activity. Territorio Juventud also has a stand with lemonade, fruit and energy bars available for participants.
Each day is divided into six 30-minute sessions, between 17 and 20 hours, with capacity for up to 200 participants per day, organised into different groups. Registration opens every Wednesday at 10 hours on the Youth Department's social media pages and on the website www.experiencias.es. The activity is open to young people and children aged 8 and over, as well as entire families.
The programme aims to promote healthy outdoor activities in a natural environment, encourage sustainable values, and foster sociability, cooperation and teamwork among young people.
