The series offered six concerts in different locations to discover another way of understanding classical music

The 'Cámara Secreta, Música que se descubre' (Secret Chamber, Music to be Discovered) series has been touring various public spaces in the municipality since last June. A total of six educational and interactive concerts have been held, offering what the Department of Culture described as a high-quality musical adventure. The final concert took place on Thursday 17th, featuring the brass quintet of the Málaga Symphony Orchestra at the Manuel España Theatre.

  • El escenario elegido fue el patio del teatro Manuel España de Las Lagunas.

According to Pablo Guerrero, the quintet’s tuba player, "we are a group of musicians from the Malaga Symphony Orchestra, colleagues who also perform in other orchestras, and today we are bringing the series to a close. We are going to offer a very varied and educational concert to introduce the instruments. Some of them are more modern than those found in traditional classical concerts, such as the piano, which didn’t exist in earlier orchestras".

For his part, Manuel Carrasco, trumpet player, said: "This kind of music has always had an elitist reputation, but that’s simply not true. It’s actually much more accessible, as it is today, when you can come across a quintet performing in a town square. It’s important to make music more approachable and less detached from the public”.

The group delivered an engaging performance with a broad and dynamic musical repertoire ranging from Renaissance and Baroque pieces to more contemporary works such as 'malagueñas' and 'pasodobles', including both original compositions for brass quintet and specially arranged works.

This series of chamber music concerts was designed as a participatory experience, aiming to bring classical music closer to the public, especially younger audience. The project took place throughout June and July in the three main areas of the municipality of Mijas, with concerts held in unconventional venues such as streets, squares, and other alternative spaces, creating an intimate and accessible atmosphere.
