The Fuengirola-Mijas Costa Alzheimer’s Association opened its first charity shop on Tuesday 15th of July. The shop is run by members María José Rueda and Trinidad Lebrón, but it will be the volunteers, “the most important people in the organisation”, according to the association’s president, Paqui Lebrón, who will take charge of the day-to-day running of the establishment, working in rotating shifts.
Among the items on sale are men’s and women’s clothing, household goods, and handmade crafts created by the users of AFA’s centre in Fuengirola. According to Lebrón, the proceeds from the sale of these items “will go towards maintaining activities and computer equipment, as well as supporting the development of the vegetable garden outside our Adolfo Suárez Day Centre, so that we can offer users activities such as garden therapy”. The shop is open in the mornings and afternoons.
