The Gastrolatino Festival comes to Las Lagunas from the 17 to the 20th of July

  • The multicultural festival organised by the Mijas Town Hall and Producciones Raíces will take place at the fairground
  • Silvia Marín, concejala de Fiestas y Tradiciones, y Rafael Urquiza, director de Producciones Raíces, este martes en la presentación del evento.

For four days, we will be able to enjoy music, dancing and cuisine from Latin American countries. The event will feature food trucks, cocktails and live music

Following the success of the first event held in La Cala a few weeks ago, the Gastrolatino Festival arrives in Las Lagunas to make us dance to the rhythm of salsa, bachata and merengue. This is a very summery event that invites us to enjoy the music, dancing and cuisine of countries such as Colombia, Argentina, Cuba and Mexico. "We want to invite all 'Mijeños' to attend this festival, not only to enjoy Latin music with the great tributes that will be performing, but also to enjoy the cuisine of the many countries taking part in this Gastrolatino festival", said the councillor for Festivities and Traditions, Silvia Marín (PP), on Tuesday, at the presentation of the event.

The Las Lagunas fairground will become a multicultural hub from Thursday 17th of July to Sunday 20th of July. This festival, which brings us the very best of Latin American culture, will include food trucks, cocktails, live music and entertainment. “We’ve created a programme based on the greatest icons of Latin music. We’ll be presenting tributes to Romeo Santos, Juan Luis Guerra and Prince Royce”, said Rafael Urquiza, director of Producciones Raíces, the company organising the event. “People who enjoy dancing bachata and merengue often complain that they don’t have a place to dance under the stars, they always end up in nightclubs. We’ve organised this so they can have their own outdoor space to dance salsa”, Urquiza added.

  • La cita se celebró el pasado junio en La Cala, al fina de julio llegará a Mijas Pueblo.

From the Department of Festivities and Traditions and Producciones Raíces, they emphasised that this is a festival open to all audiences, with a strong family focus. “It’s a festival that brings together local businesses, a meeting point full of flavours, created with a lot of love”, added Urquiza, while Marín concluded by saying: “There will be plenty of activities for families so that parents can enjoy the event with their children. There will be children’s entertainment, where youngsters will also be able to take home a little gift… It’s a great festival in Las Lagunas for local residents to enjoy as part of the wider programme of events we’re holding across Mijas”.

In fact, from the 31st of July to the 3rd of August, music, dance and gastronomy will arrive in Mijas Pueblo, which will be transformed into a little corner of Havana.
