The councillor for Public Roads at the Mijas Town Hall, Melisa Ceballos (PP), together with the councillor for Economic Development, Juan Carlos Maldonado (PMP), presented on Tuesday the second edition of 'Mijas con alma a la luz de las velas' (Mijas with soul by candlelight), an initiative that, from July 4th to 6th from 21:30 hours, will see the town decorated with more than 15,000 candles and host an attractive programme of concerts.
Calle Málaga, Plaza de la Libertad, Calle San Sebastián, Plaza de la Constitución, Calle Los Caños, Avenida del Compás and Paseo de La Muralla will be some of the locations where an immersive and magical atmosphere will be created. "In addition, we will have workshops, a medieval-themed craft market with more than 40 stalls spread throughout La Muralla, as well as games for children in the Plaza de la Constitución", said the councillor for Public Roads, adding that "it will be a weekend to enjoy with the family in the best setting".
Maldonado agreed, saying that "it will be an event that, just like last year, will attract many people thanks to the charm of the candles and the fact that it takes place in the old town of Mijas, which evokes times gone by".
The second edition of 'Mijas con alma a la luz de las velas' will also feature, as a novelty, a wishing tree, "which will be located in front of the Church of the Inmaculada Concepción, where people will write down their wishes on a piece of paper and hang them on the tree".

Concerts
The event will be rounded off with a programme of concerts at the Miguel González Berral municipal auditorium. On Friday 4th of July, there will be a tribute to Pink Floyd by IM-Pulse; on the 5th, Caribbean rhythms will fill the auditorium with the Bernáldez Latin Jazz Orchestra and their show 'Una noche en La Habana' (A Night in Havana). The grand finale will be on Sunday 6th with a tribute to the legendary British band, the Bee Gees. All shows will start at 22 hours and tickets can be purchased on the La Cochera website.
Transport
According to Maldonado, in addition to attracting the public, the event also aims to boost local activity by "showcasing our businesses, shops and restaurants, and consolidating nightlife in Mijas Pueblo", he said, adding that to facilitate travel for attendees, a bus service has been arranged from the Las Lagunas and La Cala fairgrounds, as well as from the car park located at the quarry in Mijas pueblo. The service will run from 18:00 to 2:00 hours.
