The Las Lagunas Fair begins at the Lagar Don Elías fairground. The mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP), cut the ribbon on Wednesday 25th and pressed the button that lit up the 300,000 LED bulbs that adorn the fairground portico and the artistic lighting along the two main streets of the enclosure. "I hope everyone enjoys the Las Lagunas Fair and has the chance to celebrate the festivities with their loved ones, friends, family and neighbours. I think life goes by very quickly and that we often miss opportunities, so make sure to find a little moment to come and enjoy yourselves. May everything go perfectly, because that is the wish of this government team, that the fair runs smoothly and that we can enjoy Las Lagunas Fair as we deserve: peaceful, safe and with good energy", said the mayorress from the Mijas Comunicación set, installed in the Municipal Booth.

The first day was dedicated to children, with Special Children's Day offering rides at €2.50, as well as a noise-free period from 19 to 21 hours to remove acoustic barriers for children with special needs. "Today is a very special day and, since it’s Children’s Day, it’s very important. People come because the rides are cheaper", said some children who claimed to be enjoying the first day of the festivities "very much". "The Fair is for the little ones to enjoy, although the older ones do too", added a father as he walked through the fairground with his young son.

To liven up the evening, there were stellar performances by Marisol Bizcocho, who came from Seville with her album 'Mi soledad tiene alas', and Álvaro García from Cadiz, author of 'Gloria Bendita' and 'Persona Vitamina'. "I'm delighted to be back here in Mijas and looking forward to performing", said the Seville-born singer from her dressing room to the cameras of Mijas 3.40 TV minutes before taking to the stage. The young Cádiz-born Álvaro García also gave an interview to the local television: "This is my first time in Mijas and I'm over the moon. I've brought some new songs to premiere here in Mijas, to see how the audience likes them, and of course, I'll be singing Mi persona vitamina, which is proving so popular'. All in all, it was a great opening night for the Las Lagunas Fair with a fantastic atmosphere. Remember, you can follow the festivities live every night from 21 hours on Mijas 3.40 TV and on our social media channels.
