The most charitable sport is back to help the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) with a tournament that was presented on Wednesday 25th at La Cala Resort. The event will take place on Saturday 12th of July, with a tee off at nine in the morning and using the Stableford format.
There will be two categories for men and one for women, with special prizes for the nearest ball and longest drive, alongside a grand prize draw and an exciting auction. Registration for direct customers is €80, with discounts available for owners and members, and can be done at: www.golfdirecto.com. Additionally, there is a ´fila cero' option (a financial contribution to a charitable cause through ticket purchases for an event you will not attend) at Unicaja, using the reference 'Torneo La Cala'.
The president of the AECC Fuengirola, Belén Conejo, thanked all the institutions, La Cala Resort and the companies for their commitment, "it is simply a matter of financing all the services that the AECC provides, such as psychological care, which is vital for patients and their families, social care, workshops and more".
Representing the Mijas Town Hall was the councillor for Tourism, Francisco Jerez (VOX), who said: "Collaboration between institutions and companies is essential in initiatives like this, as we must support charitable causes. There's no question about it, and the Mijas Town Hall will always back suhc initiatives, helping to promote the tournament through our media so that registrations exceed all expectations". The councillor for Sports, Mari Francis Alarcón (PP), was also present.
"La Cala Resort expects to reach 100 players due to the charitable nature of the tournament in which everyone is getting involved. The course will be in top condition and the weather looks set to be brilliant", said the resort's golf director, Robert Mitchell.
