With the high temperatures marking the start of summer, there’s nothing better than a refreshing dip, for example, at the Osunillas municipal swimming pool.
These facilities opened last Friday and are one of the few of its kind left on the Costa del Sol: located in the heart of the Sierra de Mijas, surrounded by trees and therefore natural shade, and 20 hours.
"I encourage all the neighbours of Mijas to come to this swimming pool", said the councillor for Sports, Mari Francis Alarcón (PP), on Monday morning during her visit to the facilities, "They’re sure to enjoy quality time here with friends and family, so come and make the most of this pool, set in a beautiful location that invites you to enjoy summer right next to the mountains, with plenty of shade, without a doubt, a fantastic spot”, she added.

Swimming courses
In addition to open swimming, the Sports Department has been running summer swimming courses every year for decades at this pool on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays during July and August. There are two levels: one for beginners and another for those who already know how to swim; these will start on July 2nd.
"There are two times: one from 12 to 13 hours and another from 13 to 14 hours", explained Alarcón, who reminded neighbours that "a free daily bus service will run from the bus stop next to the Town Hall, allowing both children and adults to travel to the pool and back".
On course days, that is, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the pool will be open to the public from 14 hours, and on all other days, including Saturdays and Sundays, it will be open from 12 hours. Admission to the pool, which has a capacity of 150 people, is free of charge.
