Since Friday 13th, the Water Park located in Las Cañadas has been opem. Children and their families can now enjoy this public leisure area in the heart of Las Lagunas. The park is open from 10 to 20 hours.
Fun is guaranteed at this location. On Monday 16th, the councillor for Parks and Gardens, Daniel Gómez Teruel (PP), together with several municipal technicians, visited the facilities to check that everything was in order. According to the councillor, "we have been looking after this park, carrying out maintenance and getting it into perfect condition. The water is regenerated within a closed circuit to keep water consumption as low as possible. It is also treated with the appropriate products and its pH is monitored to ensure it is safe for use. We have also installed shaded areas, and the park is now fully ready". The councillor also highlighted that this winter, a strong focus was placed on eliminating leaks and the existing ones have been repaired in time for the opening and ensuring maximum safety. "We must continue to be responsible with water, because although it has rained a lot this spring, we have to continue saving as much as possible because it is a very precious resource", said Gómez Teruel.

The Water Park is open seven days a week from ten in the morning to eight in the evening. It is activated by a push button and features a timer system that stops the water flow when not in use, as well as a closed-circuit system. It has shaded areas, a pergola, and awnings in the children's area. Outside of opening hours, the park remains closed to prevent vandalism.
Safety rules
The following safety rules apply to the area:
- Children under the age of 3 must always be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
- Use of the play area is not permitted for children over the age of 14.
- The use of balloons, balls, motor vehicles, bicycles, skates and similar items is prohibited.
- Animals are not allowed on the premises and smoking is strictly prohibited.
- Entry without footwear is not permitted.
The Town Hall asks for the full cooperation of residents and visitors when using the park, as well as respect for these rules, to ensure the park can remain open and fully operational throughout the summer for everyone to enjoy.
Goméz Teruel asks for "responsible use of these facilities because together we can make Mijas better. This way, everyone can come and enjoy the park in perfect condition without the need for ongoing repairs due to damage or misuse".
