The UP opens the registration period for its workshops for new students

  • Those interested may enrol until the 27th of June at the department offices in the three urban centres

The number of enrolments this year will be close to 5,000, with a total of 31 workshops and more than 200 groups

After reserving the first period for former students, on Monday 9th of June, registration opened for residents registered in the municipality who are interested in participating for the first time or again in any of the workshops offered by the UP. Until the 27th of June, those interested should go to the UP offices in the three centres, Monday to Thursday from 9:00 to 13:30 hours, and on Fridays until 12:30 hours. In the afternoons, registrations can only be made on Mondays and Thursdays, from 16:30 to 19:15 hours.

The UP has put together an information pack with all the subjects offered for the next academic year in each of the centres, as well as the timetables and the teachers assigned to each subject. You can also find out how to pay for these classes by bank transfer at the UP offices.

Upcoming registration dates

For those who have not been able to sign up for these workshops or cannot do so during the month of June, the UP has established a third enrolment period, provided there are places available, which will run from August 18th to September 11th for residents registered in Mijas, and from September 1st to 11th for those who are not registered.

New features for the 2025/2026 academic year

Looking ahead to the new academic year, which begins in September, the UP councillor, Silvia Marín (PP), announced on Monday that the timetables for some of the workshops that had waiting lists, specifically dance and yoga, have been extended, and that new activities have been introduced for the elderly, "such as chair yoga, painting, languages, castanets and Sevillanas classes, and even an original robotics workshop to build a float for Holy Week", said the councillor, adding that "both the teaching staff and the centre's management have been working on the made by students throughout the academic year".

According to Marín, the number of people enrolled in the UP this year will be close to 5,000, spread across a total of 31 workshops and more than 200 groups. The councillor also expressed gratitude towards the teachers, highlighting their work and reputation.

Another new feature of the UP is related to the internal coordination of the workshops which, according to piano teacher Gloria Marín, will be organised by subject, "covering the arts, music, languages, new technologies, and health and well-being", she listed, adding that "a monitoring committee will be set up, with a spokesperson from each area, to improve communication, convey needs and work together".

Finally, councillor Silvia Marín praised the UP, saying that "although it is a non-regulated educational centre, it is a place where people learn, live, share and build many friendships".
