As on every June 6th, on Friday, Mijas 3.40 TV celebrated its anniversary. We have been on air for 31 years, bringing you the most important news from the municipality and a wide variety of content on culture, sports, social issues and entertainment.

Today, we look back and remember that, not so long ago, we broadcast in analogue. The technology available then was very different from today’s, but the enthusiasm to bring local news to the people of Mijas was, and still is, enormous. And we succeeded: so much so that Mijas 3.40 TV has become a benchmark among local television stations. It has produced a wide variety of programmes that were followed not only throughout the province but across the region, as they were broadcast on other local television channels in Andalusia. Programmes such as ‘Un día con…’, ‘Ya estamos todos’, ‘La torre encantada’, ‘A debate’, ‘Minuto 90’ and many others are part of Mijas’ audiovisual history.

Over time, we have moved from video tapes, large players and bulky cables to landline connections, then mobile, and now, in the digital age, to the internet, which allows our programming to be available 24 hours a day, anywhere in the world. The immediacy of social media has also completely changed the journalistic landscape and brought us even closer to the public citizens.

Thirty-one years is a long time, and for the staff of Mijas 3.40 Television, it has been a remarkable journey. Some are no longer with us, but those of us who remain can proudly say that we have grown both personally and professionally in this company, Siempre Contigo (Always With You), as the motto of Mijas Comunicación says, and always with a public service vocation, by and for the citizens.
