On Saturday 17th of May, Holy Week in Malaga experienced a historic day with the procession of the Virgen de la Esperanza in Rome. Five people from Mijas took part, carrying on their shoulders the float bearing the image of the Archconfraternity of the Dulce Nombre de Jesús Nazareno del Paso y la Virgen de la Esperanza.

Alongside this image, two other Spanish brotherhoods also processed: El Cachorro, from Seville, and El Nazareno, from León. The three were the stars of iconic scenes as they made their way through the streets of Rome, passing some of its most emblematic monuments, such as the Colosseum, the Arch of Constantine and the Circus Maximus.

It was the Grand Procession, held to mark the Jubilee of the Brotherhoods. The large procession, which also included representations of images from Italy, France and the Vatican itself, covered a 3.75 kilometre route and was made up of around 2,000 people, an event that undoubtedly gave the Italian capital some very emotional moments.
