A broken pipe has led to the closure of the El Charcón beach in Mijas

  • The red flag is already flying in the area, prohibiting swimming

Technicians are working on site to repair the fault, which has affected approximately 50 linear metres of pipework.

The Mijas Town Hall reports that El Charcón beach is closed to the public due to a broken sewer pipe that runs through this section of the coastline. Specifically, around 50 linear metres of the pipe, which is the responsibility of Acosol, have been affected. On Friday morning morning, municipal technicians, along with technicians from Acosol and the Andalusian Regional Government, visited the site to assess the situation.

For the time being, the beach has been closed, while Acosol will carry out urgent repairs to the pipeline. According to initial estimates, the work could take two to three weeks, so residents and visitors are kindly asked not to access this area of Mijas. A red flag is already flying at the site, indicating that swimming is prohibited.
