The mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP), together with the CEO of Quesada y Pastor Consultores, Jorge Quesada, announced on Monday that the Town Hall is already working on the drafting of the I Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS), an ambitious and cross-cutting document which aims to improve mobility and everything related to it in Mijas.
The first Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS) of Mijas is an initiative that, among other goals, seeks to reorganise traffic flow, reduce reliance on private vehicles, promote the use of public transport and facilitate walking and cycling. Among its main objectives are also to reduce the emission of polluting gases and improve air quality, enhance accessibility and road safety by adapting infrastructures to ensure safe and accessible journeys for all citizens, and comply with current legislation by implementing the Low Emission Zone (LEZ) required by Law 7/2021 on Climate Change and Energy Transition.
Due to its scope, the PMUS has been divided into several phases, the first being the organisation and launch of the public participation process. Through the Citizen Participation Department, a public consultation will be carried out via online surveys starting on Tuesday, 6th of May, available at the following link, promoting participation through social media and municipal communication channels. The survey will be available on the municipal website www.mijas.es, and will also be sent to local associations and distributed via WhatsApp.
Phase two involves an analysis and diagnostic prior to the drafting of the actual plan, after which a new phase of public participation will begin, including talks with local groups, and continued use of social media and the Town Hall's communication platforms.
This entire process will culminate in the formal drafting of the PMUS, which will then need to be presented at a plenary session for approval.
