Mijas is a melting pot of cultures, and a clear example of this is the number of international associations and clubs based in or operating across the municipality. To share ideas and explore new forms of collaboration, the Town Hall’s Department for Foreigners held its annual meeting on Wednesday 23 April, bringing together around fifty representatives from these groups at the Play Mijas Restaurant. The event was supported by the Councillor for Foreigners, Mario Bravo (PP), and government team member Mari Francis Alarcón (PP).
As is customary at this annual event organised by the Foreigners Department, the day provided an opportunity for the various groups to introduce themselves and share what they do. Following an initial round of presentations, attendees shared new ideas and explored various forms of collaboration between the associations and the Town Hall, seeking synergies to enrich the social and cultural life of the municipality, reflecting its cosmopolitan character.
Institutional support and sponsors
The presence of Bravo and Alarcón underscored the government team’s support for the important work carried out by these international associations in Mijas. The organisers expressed their gratitude to Avalon Funeral Plans and Currencies Direct for their sponsorship of the event, which once again helped facilitate this essential meeting point for the international community in Mijas.
