The Ministry of Transport has put out to tender a new contract, worth 24.68 million euros, to maintain and improve a total of 122 kilometres of roads in the province of Malaga. The work includes several stretches as it passes through Mijas, all with the aim of improving traffic and safety conditions.
The contract will run for a minimum of three years, with the possibility of an extension, and will focus mainly on the A-7 motorway between Málaga and Manilva. The affected areas include the towns of Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Mijas, Marbella, Estepona, and Casares, thus exceeding 100 kilometers on this road alone.
The company awarded the contract will have to provide services such as feasibility assistance, maintenance of functional elements of the road, safety studies and ordinary maintenance work. They must also include in their bid the calculation of the carbon footprint that will be generated during the execution of the contract on each section of the road, as part of the government's strategy to reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency.
The call for tenders and all the information about it is available in the Official State Gazette.
