Until September the doors of AquaMijas will be open every day from Monday to Sunday so that neighbours and visitors can enjoy endless fun during their free time or holidays. The opening of the season took place on the 13th of April, coinciding with Palm Sunday, and although the weather was not the best, there were many families who did not want to miss the first day in this oasis of fun. "I think it's going to be a good season, we're going to have an influx of people. The Costa del Sol continues to be a very important attraction, people like it, so I think that it can be a good season", the director of AquaMijas, Maria del Mar Asesio.

As every year, the facilities and services are ready to face the season in the best conditions, also the offer of activities and children's entertainment is increased. Among the new features, "we have focused on the grass, we have changed it to artificial, especially in the main area. In the catering area we now have a self-service system that allows you, through a qr code, to order food from the hammock and then pick it up at the restaurant, thus facilitating the service", said Asesio. 

Institutional visit 

A large representation of the municipal corporation was present at the opening of the season. AquaMijas is one of the town's flagship companies. "It is an honour to have this water park the town, which as well as being a tourist attraction, provides an important service to the whole area. I would like to highlight the collaboration they do with the Town Hall and with the most disadvantaged groups, who perhaps do not have the necessary resources for the ticket and AquaMijas makes thousands of tickets available to them", said the PP councillor of the Mijas Town Hall, Lourdes Burgos.

For his part, the deputy mayor of Las Lagunas, Eloy Belmonte (Vox), said that "it is a place that has been open for a long time, that shows the ability of the municipality to attract tourists, this also shows that Mijas is a guarantee for the entrepreneurs, this water park that has been open for so many years, an continues to operate as the first day". 

"It complements in some way the tourist offer that the municipality has, a very consolidated company, doing things better every year, even innovating. It looks like it is going to be a very good season for them and for the municipality", said the councillor for Tourism Promotion, Juan Carlos Maldonado (PMP). 

"It has been a benchmark in Mijas and the whole of the Costa del Sol for almost 40 years. For our part, we wish them the best of luck so that they can continue for at least another 40 years", said the socialist councillor Hipólito Zapico. 

AquaMijas starts the season with 52 workers, although during the busiest months it will reach 120 direct jobs, most of which are occupied by young people from the area.
