With hope, but uncertainty due to the rain forecast, we are preparing for a weekend when the Holy Week processions begin. Nevertheless, brotherhoods and parishes are preparing to celebrate Palm Sunday, weather permitting.

Friday of Sorrowss

At 19 hours, the brotherhood of the Dulce Nombre de Jesús Nazareno will carry out the transfer of its main images from the hermitage of San Sebastián to its brotherhood house. The brotherhood of Jesús Vivo in Las Lagunas will do the same at 20:00 hours, after the 19:00 hours mass in its temple. For its part, the brotherhood of Cristo de la Paz will celebrate its traditional mass of sorrows and kissing of the Virgin from 18:00 hours. 

Palm Sunday

On Palm Sunday the events will begin with the Blessing of Palm Trees at 11 hours in the Virgen de la Peña Hermitage, half an hour later the Eucharist will be celebrated in the church of the Inmaculada Concepción. At 13:00 hours, weather permitting, La Pollinica will go out in procession through the village.

In Las Lagunas, the events will begin at 10:15 with the Blessing of Palm Trees in front of the Jesús Vivo brotherhood house, from where the procession will depart to the church of San Manuel González, where Palm Sunday mass will be celebrated at 10:30 hours. 

The Plaza del Torreón will be the meeting point for the celebration of Palm Sunday in La Cala, where the Blessing of Palm Trees will take place at 10:45 before the start of the procession and mass in the parish church of Santa Teresa de Jesús. 

In the church of San Miguel Arcángel in Calahonda, once again this year, Palm Sunday will be celebrated with two masses: the first one at 12:15 in English and the second one at 13:15 in Spanish, both with the Blessing of Palm Trees beforehand. 

Literature and magic

On Friday at 19:00 hours La Mari de Chambao will present her book ‘En la cresta del ahora’ at the La Cala branch office. On Saturday the appointment will be at the Manuel España Theatre, where the magician and mentalist José Tejada will present his show ‘Entelequia’, the show will start at 20 hours, tickets are priced at 16 euros in advance and can be purchased at the Estanco Alonso in Las Lagunas, and 18 euros from two hours before the start of the show at the theatre box office.
