The first Waiters race in Mijas already has a winner: Bradley Paul Carolan. The waiter from Bridges bar in Riviera del Sol won the trophy in this competition organised by the La Cala Lions Club in collaboration with the Foreigners Department of the Mijas Town Hall.

It was an event that was eagerly awaited by the participants and raised great expectations among the public in attendance. In total, there were nine waiters and waitresses who faced a 350 metre route around the Torreón carrying a tray with a coffee, a glass of water and a bread roll in their hand. The president of the association, Karen Blair, thanked "the Town Hall for allowing this first race for waiters and waitresses in Mijas to take place. It has been a fantastic day and a great success. I would also like to thank all the waiters who took part and congratulate the winners".

As we already mentioned, Bradley Paul Carolan was the winner and behind him, José Antonio Rey and Daniel Arroyo, both from the restaurant El Cortijillo, came second and third respectively. They were all very happy. "I am very happy. Many thanks to all the competitors and of course to all my colleagues at the bar and my boss for the sponsorship. Thank you very much", said the winner. His competitor, José Antonio Rey said that "the combination of Spanish and English people in La Cala is wonderful and I hope it continues because the Lions Club organises a lot of fun activities for everyone", and his partner Daniel Arroyo said that "I loved it. I competed with my colleagues and it was a pleasure".

This activity also had a charitable purpose, as all the proceeds will go to projects and initiatives that the La Cala Lions support. In addition, the councillor for Foreigners, Mario Bravo (PP), who attended the event, said that "we have been lucky with the weather, and there is a lot of people in La Cala because there are different events today. As I told everyone at the end, they have a year to train because next year we will repeat the race and hopefully with more participants and more public".
