The Viogenex group (Gender Violence against Foreign Women) has already held its first meeting of 2025. In these regular meetings, information on real cases is exchanged, data and situations are updated and prevention strategies for the coming months are considered.
The Guardia Civil, Local Police, Women's Centre, Social Inclusion Department, Foreigners Department and associations and groups that work regularly with foreigners such as Soroptimist International, Malaga Acoge and the Lions Club take part in the working meetings.
In this last meeting was attended by the recently created association 'Sembrando Sonrisas', which will be part of the group in the near future. For its part, Soroptimist has delivered the updates of the ‘Magic Book’, a complete guide of action to assist victims, to the Civil Guard and the SIMA group of the Local Police. The meetings are held every three months and among their objectives is to prevent gender violence in general and to achieve rapid and adequate care for women victims of violence.
The Viogenex group was born in 2016 as a regular working group that seeks to help foreign women victims of gender violence in Mijas in response to the lack of information that, on some occasions, this group encountered and to be able to meet their needs. The group was also born with the aim of coordinating, planning and preventing this social scourge in the town.
