The positioning of Mijas as a gastronomic destination has been reinforced by the recent recognition of five of its chefs among the 25 best in Andalusia according to the All Stars Group. They are Esteban Sedeño, from the restaurant ConFusion; Fran Peinado, from Alboka; Lupe Rodríguez, from El Panal de la Reina; Mathew Lee, from Mardi Group; and Salvio Cantón, from La Catedral. Five chefs from Mijas who joined the group of the Red Jackets, in a special edition, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the All Stars Group, which recognizes the trajectory, commitment to the product, gastronomic tradition, innovation, values of companionship and customer service.
For this reason, on Monday 17th, they visited the Mijas Town Hall to share with the mayoress, Ana Mata (PP), such a valuable recognition. Mata affirmed that "as mayoress, I am proud that Mijas has these five professionals. The gastronomic offer of Mijas is very rich and is endorsed by great professionals. Recognition such as this Red Jacket reinforces the work carried out by all of them, who are an essential asset for our municipality".
For his part, the honorary president of the All Stars Group, Ángel Marcos, declared that with this initiative "the work of these people, who take the name of Mijas to the top in the gastronomic field, is rewarded. They are professionals who ensure absolute honesty, the best experience for customers and work with local products, promoting the municipality as a gourmet destination".
Five award winners
As spokesman for his colleagues, Esteban Sedeño, a benchmark in Mijas with his two restaurants ConFusión and In the Beach, showed its gratitude and expressed its satisfaction for contributing to the gastronomy of Mijas and added that "we are not going to set limits".
From Alboka, Fran Peinado creates trends with a creative and casual cuisine, adapted to the plurality of nationalities that Mijas welcomes. Lupe Rodríguez, at the helm of El Panal de la Reina, is a benchmark for local cuisine, as well as an example of going back to the origins with its own vegetable garden and honeycombs, the protagonists of many of its proposals. For his part, Mathew Lee is one of the chefs of the moment and, together with Mardi Group, we can find him at Eskina. From La Catedral, Salvio Cantón is gaining an enormous presence and visibility throughout the gastronomic sector in Andalusia.

New Recommended All Stars
Taking advantage of the visit they to the Mijas Town Hall, the restaurants Alboka and El Panal de la Reina were presented with the red plaque ‘Recommended All Stars’, which recognises the excellence of restaurants and gourmet establishments in Andalusia. This plaque was presented to them by the mayoress of the municipality, Ana Mata, and with it they become part of the almost fifty restaurants in Andalusia that have it.
In the case of Alboka they receive it for "fusing cuisines from all around the world in a proposal of great gastronomic value and marked personality, as well as the choice of a modern and elegant decoration", they pointed out.
With regard to El Panal de la Reina, they highlight the use of "seasonal products from their own vegetable garden, as well as honey from their honeycombs. These are unique products used in a cuisine marked by tradition and authenticity", they concluded.
