The Mijas Town Hall reminds that the IBI (Property Tax), Rubbish Tax and Vehicle Tax (IVTM) corresponding to 2025 will start to be collected next Wednesday 5th of March and can be paid within the voluntary period until Thursday 20th of November. After this date, the receipts will be enforced and surcharges will be applied.
"Mijas freezes its taxes for another year and offers several possibilities to pay taxes and fees throughout the year 2025, always recommending direct debit, because it is 100% secure, free and, in addition, you get a 5% discount. If for any reason the first remittance is returned, we send it a second time to the taxpayer's bank", said the councillor for Economy and Finance, Mario Bravo (PP). In this sense, the councillor pointed out that “the increase in revenue [in the municipal budget] is not due to the increase in taxes, but to the fact that the population has increased”.
Tax payment
There are several ways for citizens to pay their taxes. By direct debit, a procedure whereby the Town Hall sends the bills to the taxpayer's bank on the established dates and amounts. In this sense, the first IBI payment will be sent on the 14th of March, while the second will be sent on the 5th of June. The rubbish tax will be sent out on the 7th of April and 7th of July and the IVTM will be sent to the banks on the 5th of May for the first instalment and on the 5th of August for the second instalment.
Taxes can also be paid with a digital certificate, through the municipal website www.mijas.es, by credit card. Using this method, both current and previous years' taxes can be paid. Those who do not have a digital certificate can also make their payments through the website www.pagoexpressmijas.es (active as of March) 5th, by credit card, only for current year taxes.
Neighbours who wish to do so can also pay their taxes in person, exclusively by credit card, by going to the tax collection offices in the three centres or, alternatively, they can request a letter of payment and pay their taxes within three days through a bank.
