Pepe Guasp, an industrial mechanic and electrician, is convinced that he has found the key to cheaper and more eco-friendly vehicles. This resident of Mijas joined the Pegaso factory in Barcelona as an apprentice in his teens and all the knowledge he has acquired since then about mechanics has helped him to register a patent for a device to charge batteries of electric vehicles based on the use of air. As this active member of the Lions Club of Mijas told us, "if you take advantage of the wind from the vehicle when you drive, it turns out that you can obtain a generator that does not depend on the battery, but on an external energy, the air".
Guasp says that if his device is implemented in the automotive industry, it will no longer be necessary to connect cars to charging points. "The car runs and charges itself, so you never have to plug it in to a charging point or fill it with petrol".
The device consists of a generator propelled by the force of the air currents generated by moving vehicles, ‘"an idea that is applicable to trucks, buses, cars and motorbikes", says Guasp, adding that "in a short time it would clean the air pollution in all the cities of the world".
He also pointed out that with his system, electric cars could be even cheaper, more efficient and more eco- friendly than current models.
Patent
Guasp already has the Utility Model Title from the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, which grants it the exclusive right throughout Spain for ten years. It also has a worldwide right of first refusal until the end of April this year. "The next step is to see who is interested in using the technology and the exclusive right, and if no one comes out, everyone will have the right to use the idea", he concluded.
