All the proceeds from the box office went to Cudeca, an organisation that offers specialised care for people with cancer in advanced stages

After paying tribute to him last year, the first festival named after the late guitarist from Liverpool based in Mijas, Matt McGurk, who passed away just two years ago, has been created. The initiative is the brainchild of the flamenco singer and dancer Eva Sedeño with the participation of other local artists and friends of Matt, such as Enrique Heredia, Tatiana Cuevas, Miguel Ángel Rojas, María José Bueno, José Antonio Rojas, Vanesa Cortés, Manuel Alcayde, Yessica Ruiz, Sandra Ortiz, Marta Pellizco and Marina Céspedes and Rafael 'de Lola', who told us that "Matt and I played together; he was a very nice person and he is very much loved. I hope that this tribute lasts forever and that it can be done every year with different artists so that we can pay tribute to him as he deserved".

Tangos, "bulerías" and the more and more popular adaptation of fitness to flamenco dance, 'fitflamc'. Almost every style was performed on the theater stage to remember Matt.

The show, hosted by Fran Reina, also featured a touch of pop rock note by thegroup Monkey Tennis, and with a touch of solidarity. All the money raised at the entrance was donated to the Cudeca Foundation, an organisation that offers specialised care for people with cancer and other advanced illnesses, and support for their families, completely free of charge. Its Communication and Fundraising technician, Jorge López, announced, before the festival began, that "we have already raised one and a half thousand euros, which we are going to invest in our palliative care programme at the foundation. It is not a donation directed to a specific programme, but to the care programme in general. We need six and a half million euros a year".

Very soon, the programme Nuestra Tierra, on Mijas 3.40 TV, will offer a special programme in which you will be able to see this show in its entirety.
