J.P./M.J.G. Complete renewal of the fleet of motorbikes of the Local Police of Mijas. The officers will soon have a total of 22 new motorbikes to provide service in our municipality after the Mijas Town Hall has put out to tender the contract for the supply of the motorbikes under lease (no option to purchase).
“As part of the actions taken by the Mijas Town Hall to continuously improve security, the incorporation of these 22 motorbikes will have a very positive impact on the service offered by the Local Police, as these vehicles are more adapted to the size and orography of the municipality, which will also allow the officers to travel more efficiently”, said the councillor for Citizen Security, Juan Carlos Cuevas Dawson (Vox).
The demand has been met by the government team. “When I arrived, I was surprised to find that the motorbikes were in terrible condition, many of them were broken down, of the 18 we had, 4 were unusable and others had many defects due to continuous use”, assured Cuevas.
The Town Hall has invested almost 700,000 euros in this contract, which will provide the municipality with 16 scooters, 4 electric motorbikes and 2 trail type units. In this way, the department is providing the officers with vehicles which, they point out, will be adapted to the needs of the town.
“Among other improvements, we have looked for higher motorbikes to improve visibility, to have a better view of the traffic and they are of exceptional quality”, said the councillor, who added that “we have motorbikes for dirt roads, electric motorbikes to reduce consumption, larger motorbikes for long distance journeys, smaller ones to provide service in the town, so we will have a range of different motorbikes that are better adapted to the situation in the municipality.
As included in the contract specifications, these 22 units will be obtained through a four-year leasing contract, which includes maintenance and comprehensive insurance with no excess for each of these motorbikes. Likewise, the company awarded the lease must deliver the vehicles with the minimum technical and technological equipment required by the Local Police, as detailed in the tender.
