The Youth Department of the Mijas Town Hall is organising an online information session to talk about different European volunteer programmes aimed at young people between 18 and 30 years old. On Friday 24th the councillor for the department, Mari Francis Alarcón (PP), recommended this experience, "because it helps young people to get by, become independent and gain a bit of confidence so that they are not always stuck with their parents. We think it is positive and very fruitful to go out and be on their own for a some of time".
This telematic meeting will take place on January 29th, at 17:30, through Google Meet, and to participate in it you only have to request it through the social networks of the Youth Department.
English course
On the other hand, the department is reporting on two study grants currently in the process of being announced, both promoted by the bank Santander. The first, called USA Summer Experience, offers the opportunity to take a 15-day intensive English course at the University of Pennsylvania, in the United States. "It will take place in mid-July, and a the B1 level of English is required, but from Youth we encourage young people to try to apply for this scholarship because, in addition to learning English, they will share a good experience with other young people for two weeks", said Alarcón.
Erasmus
Secondly, Santander Bank is also offering another financial aid for those who are thinking of going on Erasmus next academic year 2025-2026. "On this occasion there are a total of 3,211 grants of up to 1,000 euros for young people residents in Spain who are enrolled in any of the Spanish universities participating in the Erasmus programme and who have been beneficiaries of this study or internship programme for 2025", explained the councillor, who concluded by reminding us that “through the Youth social networks we try to inform our followers of this and other study and volunteering initiatives that come out during the year”.
