It was last Saturday 11th of January, shortly before two o'clock in the afternoon, when the Mijas Fire Department had to intervene after a call from a 68 year old woman from Belgium, who felt unable to walk due to severe pain in her leg while she was walking along the yellow circular path of the Cañada Gertrudi.

The rescue team went to the point where the hiker was, about two kilometres from the road that links Mijas with Alhaurín el Grande, so the firefighters had to transfer the woman on a stretcher to the A-7053, where she was assisted by an ambulance.
