The public speaking clubs Toastmasters, Achievers of Marbella and Costa del Soul Speakers of Mijas joined together last week to celebrate Christmas and welcome this latest new club, which was born with the aim of promoting the art of public speaking. More than 40 toastmasters took part in a special public speaking session at Play Mijas, where, according to a press release, “the festive spirit and enthusiasm for the growth of the speaking community reigned”.  

The day began with a welcome cocktail reception, followed by a public speaking session in the style of Toastmasters International. Participants made prepared speeches on a variety of impromptu 2-minute topics and constructive evaluations on language, grammar, body language and time management. The meeting ended with a dinner, party and surprise gifts, “where members were able to bond and celebrate the year’s achievements”. 

The Achievers Club of Marbella is “one of the most prestigious and honoured clubs in Andalusia”. Meanwhile, the newly formed Costa del Soul Speakers, born in September, brings together “experienced speakers and enthusiastic new members looking to develop in the art of public speaking”. The club organises weekly sessions every Tuesday in La Cala, alternating Spanish and English.
