For its design, quality, service, innovation, originality and commitment to sustainability, the Wyndham Grand La Cala Golf Residences housing development has won an award at the European Property Awards 2024 in the Residential Project 20+ Units category. These awards are a benchmark of excellence for real estate professionals in Europe and "for us they are a reason to celebrate", said the head of Business Development at Idiliq Group, Enrique López, during the presentation of the award to the mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP).
"We applaud the private initiative but we do not forget about the public initiative, that has to come from the Town Hall, and I believe that the two things are compatible", said the mayoress, who added that from the Town Hall “we do not forget the municipal part that also tries to promote housing for young people, for families of the municipality, who need more affordable prices and that we have to provide it from the Town Hall”. Mata had the opportunity to see first hand the progress of the construction of this development of 58 terraced houses, located in the upper expansion area of La Cala de Mijas. "This is one of the projects that was presented last year at Fitur and has been awarded, for its sustainability and the way it is developed architecturally", added the mayoress.
"This award, together with the good reception that the project is having among our clients, taking into account that we have already sold more than 70 percent of the homes, confirms that we have to make a clear commitment to a quality product. Our product maximises the green spaces, the open spaces in the home. The homes also have plenty of day light and I believe that this is something that is always rewarded", added López.
Sustainability
Mata congratulated "Wyndham for this initiative, for maintaining the quality that we also want to offer to the whole world. Mijas is a municipality that has a wide range of tourism possibilities and we don't just want to focus on sun, beach and golf tourism, but also to promote our mountains, our coastal path and the other options we have in the municipality".
In the same vein, the company was also "very pleased and very happy to receive the mayoress, Ana Mata, and we want to publicly thank both her and her government team because from the private initiative we always feel very supported. If we have any doubts, we always have someone on the other side who listens to us and tries to help us".
Job creation
Regarding the impact of these types of developments for Mijas, the mayoress said that they provide quality and generate employment. "I would like to thank Wyndham for building developments that add quality to our municipality because this generates employment, not only in the execution of the works, but also in the service sector, as we will have to provide service to these new people who will come to enjoy our municipality".
The development
Wyndham Grand La Cala Golf Residences, IDILIQ Developments' latest project on the Costa del Sol, adds to the group's extensive portfolio of properties, new developments and resorts. The new development consists of 58 two and three-bedroom terraced houses with a view of the golf course, contemporary design and large outdoor spaces. Construction began in January this year "and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025".
