On Tuesday 26th, the fifth edition of the German Cinema Week kicked off in Malaga. Mijas and Torrox have joined this programme and on the afternoon of Wednesday 27th, the assembly hall of the Mijas Town Hall was transformed into a cinema with the aim of hosting one of the programmed films. ‘Wann Wird Es Endlinch Wieder So Wie Es Nie War’ (When will it be again lik it never was before) was the film screened in Mijas. It was one of the nine films programmed within this initiative organised by SUR Deutsche Ausgabe together with the German Consulate in Malaga and the Goethe Institute in Madrid. “The aim of this initiative by Sur in German is to bridge the gap between both cultures”, said the director of Sur Deutsche Ausgabe, Uwe Scheele.
Also collaborating in the screenings are the town halls of Torrox and Mijas, in response to the large number of foreign residents in both municipalities. What we want is for the Spanish to get closer to German culture and for the Germans to get closer to us; we have many things in common and many things we can learn from each other and that is why the Mijas Town Hall is taking part”, said the councillor for Foreigners, Mario Bravo (PP).
The German Cinema Week has a wide variety of genres, ranging from comedy to historical and social cinema. “The film is a tragicomedy that describes the life of a child, an only son, who grows up in a psychiatric hospital”, said Scheele.
