Lumon is an international currency transfer and exchange company operating in many countries. It has been working in Mijas for some time, but on Thursday 14th they went a step further by opening an office in the boulevard of La Cala. With a grand opening, Lumon's managers recalled the service they provide. The opening was attended by the councillor of the government team Mario Bravo (PP), who recalled that "most of the sales and purchases that are being made in recent years in Mijas are made by foreigners who bring their money and come to live here" and Lumon "helps these people, given the competition with the banks, to move money from one country to another, although the key is that money does not travel, what travels are the services".
That is why "from the Town Hall we want Mijas to continue growing, that all the houses that are being built according to the PGOU of 1999 can be sold, find a buyer who pays its taxes, keeps its house.... In other words, we are looking for a reasonable, orderly, sustainable growth that can be made with Spanish residents in the area and also with foreigners".
According to Lumon's regional director on the Costa del Sol, Inara Guliyeva, this business is "to help foreigners who are investing in the area to buy property or to transfer funds to Spain with a better exchange rate and avoiding the commissions they may incur". This business has been in operation for 24 years, but "this is the first office we have opened on the Costa del Sol, where we are more focused because of the international market. In fact, there are now a lot of Americans buying here, almost at the same level as the British", said Gurieva.
