Since the 31st of October, the Mijas Town Hall, through the Civil Protection Department, has collected more than 100,000 kilos of basic Goods to help the victims of the hurricane DANA, thanks to the campaign called ‘Mijas Solidaria’. This is the assessment that the Mijas Town Hall has made of the collection of products that has been carried out in the municipality, a campaign that was very well accepted and in which the participation was so overwhelming that it was necessary to set up a storage area in the old fire station in order to coordinate the donations. For the moment, the collection has stopped due to the large amount of material donated and the lack of space to continue storing it.
During these days of solidarity collection, everything from water to drugstore articles have been collected. All together, 30 pallets of food, 21 of water, 20 of cleaning products, two of nappies for adults and children, one of pet food, two of hygiene products and two of tools, among others, have been donated.
Many neighbours have been involved, joined by associations and groups, volunteers, companies and drivers who have shown their willingness to collaborate in whatever way is necessary to support those affected by the DANA. The mayoress of the municipality, Ana Mata, wanted to thank the willingness and solidarity of the Mijeños "who have been involved to the maximum".
