The General Directorate of Civil Protection and Emergencies of the Ministry of Domestic Affairs, in accordance with the forecasts of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), maintains the alert for heavy to torrential rains on the Mediterranean and western Andalusian coasts until Friday 15th of November.
Since 10 hours, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) keeps the eastern part of the province of Malaga under a red warning for heavy rainfall that could accumulate up to 120 litres in twelve hours. This alert will remain in effect until 23:59 hours this Wednesday, 13th of November, affecting mainly the municipalities of the Costa del Sol, the capital of Malaga, the Guadalhorce Valley and Axarquia. After this, these parts of the province will continue to be under orange warning until 07:59 on Thursday, accumulating some 105 litres in 12 hours.
At 22.30 hours on Tuesday, Civil Protection sent a mass message to mobile phones in the areas affected by the red warning, Axarquia, Sol and Guadalhorce, with a call for extreme caution and to follow the advice of self-protection, insisting on the importance of calling 112 in case of any emergency.
During the morning there have been heavy downpours in municipalities of the province of Málaga such as Coín, Archidona, Alcaucín and La Viñuela (Axarquía), among others. Due to the rain, the 112 service reports that certain sections of the A-355 (Coín), the A-7054 (Málaga) and the A-7286 (Campillos) have been closed.
In addition to the province of Malaga, the province of Tarragona, in Catalonia, is also under a red warning for rain and storms until 21:00 hours. In this area, 180 litres of rain could fall in 12 hours.

On that day, Mijas collected almost 90 litres in 12 hours in the area around Valtocado, just over 60 in the village and 34 in Las Lagunas.
